EDWARD “ED” RONALD RYAN, beloved husband of Gretchen Kreel Ryan, passed away on August 26, 2022 at age 85. He is survived, loved, and missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends.
Ed served his Nation in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict, serving alongside British Allied Military Services. Ed’s military service was an important part of his identity. Though Ed would joke that most of his service was spent in the brig, those close to him know that he risked much to protect his country. Ed was a recipient of the Honor Flight in 2019. Though his service to his Nation was important to him, his service to the Lord was even dearer to his heart. Ed walked a very close walk with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. That faith carried him through 4,265 days of sobriety, one day at a time. A Nute Ridge Bible Chapel congregant for over a decade, Ed wrote and kept daily devotionals for years. He was dedicated to his faith and love in Jesus Christ.
Ed was a caring and loving friend to the many people he held close. Ed was generous with his friends and would go to extraordinary lengths to show his love. Whether it was the ritual of a weekly phone call or lending support to friends in need, Ed went above and beyond for the people he loved. Those closest to him knew that beneath his tough exterior was a warm and loving man. Even in his final days, he was more worried about the impact of his disease on those he loved than on his own discomfort. He loved deeply, and considered many to be family who did not share his blood.
He will be missed.
Friends may attend a Celebration of Ed’s life at Nute Ridge Bible Chapel at 99 Nutes Rd., Milton, NH, on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at 10:00 am to pay their respects. Pastor Bob Walsh will officiate.
