Elaine P. Crowther, of Wolfeboro, NH, formerly of Wallingford, Connecticut and North Haven, Connecticut passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2024. She was born in Meriden, Connecticut to Arthur and May (Bercier) Pagni, November 25, 1939.
Elaine attended schools in Connecticut, graduating from Holy Trinity School June,1953 and Lyman Hall High School June 1957, both in Wallingford, Connecticut then Southern Connecticut State College, June 1965 with a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science June 1969 in Elementary Education.
Upon graduating Elaine taught fourth grade at Washington Street School in Wallingford, Connecticut before relocating to Springfield, Virginia where she taught fourth grade at Kings Glen School and was the winner of the 1970-1971 Outstanding Young Educator award selected from a survey of twenty-two schools. Elaine later married Captain Bruce Crowther, US Army and returned to Connecticut where she taught fourth grade at Clintonville School in North Haven, Connecticut. The following summer she traveled to South Korea to be with her husband where they lived on post before moving to the officers village off post and experiencing the culture of the country first hand.
Moving back to the states they lived in North Haven, Connecticut before moving to Wolfeboro, New Hampshire where Elaine taught school at Gilford Elementary in Gilford, New Hampshire where she later retired.
Elaine and her husband started raising Siberian Huskies where they became involved with racing the dogs. Elaine enjoyed the dogs and the sport and maintained an active kennel where she spent quality time with the animals. Elaine was also very active in planning and drawing house plans and was able to supervise the construction of the four houses they built in the area.
Elaine was an avid gardener and enjoyed planning her beautifully designed, colorful flower beds and plants of many descriptions. At one house she entertained the Hospice Garden Tour for their annual fund raiser which was very well attended.
Elaine is survived by her husband of 54 years, Bruce H. Crowther and her daughters Terrie (David) Schillereff of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire and Deborah (Christopher) Briggs of Alton, New Hampshire. Her sister Susan Crowther of Meriden, Connecticut, ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
A service to celebrate Elaine's life will be held at the First Congregational Church, UCC 115 South Main Street Wolfeboro, New Hampshire 03894 at 1:00pm on Saturday, August 10, 2024.
Following the service there will be a lite luncheon reception in the church hall for all to attend.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Ossipee Humane Society, P. O. Box 655 Ossipee, New Hampshire 03864.
Interment will be for family and friends at a date to be determined.
