Elaine Lawton Obituary

Elaine Lawton, Effingham, NH

Elaine Lawton 68 years old of Effingham, NH passed away at Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital on March 11, 2024 from declining health, she was surrounded by her loving family.

Elaine was born on May 27, 1955 in Woburn, MA. She attended and graduated from school in Lynnfield, MA. She then moved to Center Ossipee, NH in 1975 where she and the love of her life lived in a small camp for 9 years. Then in 1984, they moved into their current home in Effingham, NH.

Elaine enjoyed the beach, swimming holes along the Kancamagus highway and being in the mountains. She loved her parent’s family parties at Christmas and New Years, parties with friends, going to concerts, sitting out on a summer night listening to the owls and watching the abundant wildlife on the property. Elaine also liked going to the fairs, especially the Fryeburg fair. She enjoyed riding with her husband on their motor cycle until 1981 when an accident left her with a severe leg injury that troubled her for the rest of her days.

Elaine started a small Daycare in their country home that she ran for 30 years. She made many lifelong friends along the way, in addition to watching many local kids grow up. She was also known as “Laney”.

Elaine is survived by her loving husband and companion of 50 years, J. Kevin Lawton of Effingham, NH, daughter and her best friend Crystal Lawton, and grandson Kaden Lawton whom she adored. Her sister’s Karen Ross, Donna Slaughter and her companion Ralph Murphy of Exeter, NH who have been there through thick and thin, as well as her step brother Bob McNulty.

She is predeceased by her parent’s John and Shirley McNulty, of Lynnfield, MA, her brother-in-law James Ross, her nephew Jamie Ross of Exeter, NH and Grandma Minnie Bourque. As well as our family’s yellow lab whom we shared with Crystal named Chance that passed away last July. Chance will accompany Elaine on her next journey. Labradors have given our family much love and comfort over the years.

Our hearts are broken and need time to grieve and heal. Right now, the loss is hard to bear.

The family will announce a Celebration of Her Life at a later date. In lieu of flowers please consider making donations to the Humane Society and Animal Rescue of your choice. Rest in Peace my Love.
