Ernest Pratt Obituary

Ernest G. (Ernie) Pratt, age 84, went to be with his Lord and Savior, his beloved wife Bobbie, and son Gregory, in Millis, MA, on Wednesday, August 24, 2022. He died peacefully in his sleep.

Ernie was born February 18, 1938, in Attleborough, MA, the Son of George and Sarah Pratt of Attleborough, MA. He moved with his parents to Wolfeboro, NH in 1942 when he was 6 where he attended Carpenter Elementary School, and Brewster Academy.  He lived most of his life in Wolfeboro, raised 4 children with his wife Bobbie, and after her passing moved to Millis, MA to live out his years in a lovely apartment at his daughter Sandy’s home.

Ernie was well known in the Wolfeboro community. He worked for Weeks Dairy and delivered dairy products to local stores, restaurants and schools for 25 years. Following that career he worked for Elan printing as a printing press operator. Retirement though revealed his true talent for art, embarking with Bobbie in a children’s puzzle enterprise, which they became famous for. They travelled throughout New England to craft fairs and sold thousands of puzzles. His legacy expands the globe with puzzles being sold to many international customers as well.

Ernie was a devoted father, and despite working 6 days a week most of his life, always found time to teach and inspire his children. He was a scout master, little league coach, and ski instructor. He taught the whole family how to ski at Abenaki Ski Area.

Ernie was a veteran of the New Hampshire National Guard, serving as a section chief in the Artillery, separating Honorably from the Guard as a Staff Sergeant in 1965 after 8 years of service.

Ernie was a long time member of the First Christian Church in Wolfeboro, many years serving as a deacon. He was renowned for his singing, especially in the midnight Christmas Eve service.

Ernie and Bobbie were avid New England sports fans. They spent many happy hours watching the Red Sox, Bruins, and Patriots on TV, and as a family we made several trips to Fenway Park to sit in the bleachers and watch games. These were very specials times for our family, as were our yearly trips to Colebrook and Dixville notch, to ski at the Wilderness ski area, and occasionally having a real treat staying at the famed Balsams Resort.

Ernie also loved golf, and could be seen almost every day in his later years walking nine holes at the Fore Kicks golf center in Norfolk, MA.

He is survived by his son Dr. Robert Pratt and his wife Donna of Jericho, Vermont, son Christopher Pratt and his wife Dr. Meryl Atwood of Andover, MA, daughter Sandra Luppino and her husband Richard of Millis, MA, grandchildren Wade Machon and his wife Alex Laflam, Hannah and Samuel Pratt, Steven, Amelia and Kristen Luppino, great grandchildren Presley and Remi Machon, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ernie was an only child, and not having any siblings, became very close to Bobbies sisters Janice, Gloria, and Cynthia, and their families.

He is predeceased by his wife, Roberta “Bobbie” Pratt, in 2013, and son MSgt Gregory Pratt, USAF, in 2017.

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, October 22, 2022, at the First Christian Church in Wolfeboro.  Calling hours will be held at Lord funeral home, Route 28, Wolfeboro, NH from 6-8 PM Friday, October 21. Burial will be held in private. Relatives and friends are welcome at the service and a reception at the First Christian Church immediately following the service.
