Eunice May Hodgdon, age 91, of Tuftonboro, New Hampshire, passed away on February 3, 2024. She was born in 1932, in Tuftonboro, NH. Eunice was a warm, kind, and giving individual who had a wonderful smile for everyone she met. She had a great sense of humor and was known for writing and sending birthday, holiday, and Christmas cards to her loved ones. Eunice always expressed her appreciation for gifts with complete compassion through beautiful thank you cards. She had a special love for hugging and adored her family, especially her husband. She kept up with the comings and goings of her children, grandchildren, siblings, and their families. When she was with family and friends, she always made a point of telling them she loved them. Eunice cherished her family and friends and displayed their photos with pride.
Eunice is survived by her loving children, David and Bruce, as well as her grandchildren, Brett, Katie, and Chelsea, and great-grandchildren, Micheli and Pietro. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Glenn; her son, Lance; her sister, Ruby; and her brothers, Roy and Richard.
Eunice attended Tuftonboro Central School for her primary education and later graduated from Brewster Academy for high school. Her faith was as steadfast as the mountains surrounding her hometown, and she worshiped with a heart full of grace at the Melvin Village Community Church.
In her free time, Eunice enjoyed square dancing, solving jigsaw puzzles, reading, gardening, watching the birds who flew to her bird feeders, and tending to her plants. She had a passion for collecting and displaying photos of her loved ones and friends. Eunice also took pleasure in playing dominoes, painstakingly working on jigsaw puzzles, and exploring word finds.
Calling hours will be held on the evening of Sunday February 18th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Lord Funeral Home in Wolfeboro. The funeral service will take place on Monday February 19th at 11:00 am at the Melvin Village Community Church.
A graveside committal ceremony will be held on May 11th at 11:00 am at the Townhouse Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your favorite charity, allowing Eunice’s spirit of compassion to continue its earthly mission.
