WOLFEBORO - G. Grant Haley, 93, of Wolfeboro, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his family. Grant was born on November 30, 1930, in Lynn, Massachusetts, the son of Francis N. Haley and Grace (Smith) Haley.
Grant attended Lynn schools and graduated from Lynn English High School. He served in the United States Army at Fort Eustis in Virginia from 1952 to 1954. Later he worked for United Shoe Machinery, “the Shoe” as an accountant in Beverly, Massachusetts until his retirement.
Grant was a life-long resident of Lynn, Massachusetts and a life-long summer resident of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire at the family camp on Lake Wentworth, built by his grandfather in 1913.
He was a great friend and neighbor, good to all, and always lending a helping hand. He loved his family above all, and took good care of his parents throughout their lives. Someone was always stopping by to say hello and catching up on old times. Grant had the most amazing memory.
A few years ago, Grant moved into the home of his niece Cheryl and her husband Tom and his sister Polly. He became a year-long Wolfeboro resident. Grant was a familiar sight riding his bicycle and flagging the Wolfeboro train at Fernald Crossing for many years. He was also a member of St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Lynn, Massachusetts and All Saints Episcopal Church in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire where he served as an usher. Grant was also a life-long member of Ascendus Lodge in Lynn, Massachusetts.
Grant was predeceased by his parents Francis N. Haley and Grace (Smith) Haley and his brother-in-law, Charles Smith. He leaves his sister Pauline Smith. He also leaves two nieces, Cheryl and her husband Tom McCarriston, and Cynthia Korsman. He also leaves a grand-niece April and her husband Jake Van Malden. In addition, he leaves three grand-nephews, Jason Legro, Daniel Legro and his wife Debra and their son Dalen and Joshua Korsman.
Per Grants request, there will be no services. Burial will be private.
