Gail Bizer Obituary

Freedom, NH

Gail Susan Pomeroy Bizer (GG, Gwama, Mrs. Bizer), of Freedom, NH, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 17, 2023.  See full obituary including service details at: www.lordfuneralhome.com

Gail was born during a storm; in Milford, CT, November 22, 1943. During her school-age years in Danbury, CT, Gail was active in youth group, tap dance and entertaining friends with her quick wit. She graduated from Danbury High School in 1963 where she was elected Class Clown.  She later graduated from Danbury Hospital School of Radiologic Technology.

Gail had a long career as a radiology technician in Connecticut and New Hampshire. She was passionate about her education and career, always making a point to care for her hands, “I worked with my hands, people see them every day.” She took pride in her work and cared deeply for her  and later fulfilled a lifelong dream on mission trips to Haiti, sharing her skills as a medical professional and caring for children.

Gail married Herman in 1973, the Family spent their years in Bridgewater, CT, living on Fairview Farm.  Gail and Herm provided a safe, welcoming space for countless youth and friends. There was always a home cooked meal, lively discussion and uproarious laughter around the table.  As members at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Brookfield, CT for over 20 years, they participated in choir, church council, Sunday school and youth group. Working with the youth group introduced Gail and family to Camp Calumet, Lutheran, NH. Retreats, camp songs and hikes to Jackman’s ridge were the foundation for her later ‘career’ as the Camp Calumet Beach BBQ/Conference Center host.  Later on, the couple traveled in their RV, visiting multiple states and National Parks, including the trip of a lifetime to Alaska. Settling in Silver Lake, NH, to enjoy cruising the lake with friends and family while establishing a presence in the community.

After Herman’s passing, Gail had the ‘Enchanted Cottage’ built to her specifications and moved to Freedom, NH. Where she rooted herself into all aspects of the community including the school, church, post office, knitting club, Freedom Elementary School and the village store where she sold her homemade jam. Gail was a deacon at The Freedom Church, and volunteered at the Freedom Elementary School. Going nearly everyday, to read with kids, teach them to cook and more. She was a member of the school board and had recently been re-elected just days before her passing.

Gail loved her grandchildren, making memories by providing exciting, educational experiences and opportunities for them to have fun. When asked how she would like to be remembered: “That I was adventurous, wholesome, loved children, especially my grandchildren, loved to walk, read, sew and do things for others.” Gail lived a full life. She will be deeply missed.

She has gone to rest with her beloved Herman and is now with God. Gail is predeceased by Husband Herman T. Bizer & brother Clifford B. Pomeroy.
