George Fuller Obituary

George Andrew Fuller, 91, died March 10, 2020 at Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro, NH following a brief illness.

Born and raised in North Conway, NH on February 2, 1929, the son of Peter and Mariah (Pillsbury) Fuller, he later moved to Sudbury, MA where he lived for over 50 years.

An inaugural member of the Kennett High School Hall of Fame, Mr. Fuller was a natural athlete.  He played varsity football, basketball and baseball all four years at Kennett High School and still holds the football punt record of 83 yards (he said the wind was at his back that day!). After graduating from Kennett, Mr. Fuller went on to play baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals organization, but a shoulder injury ended his baseball career.

In 1951 Fuller entered the US Army, serving in Korea as a corporal until 1953. After the service, Fuller was in sales for the American Tobacco Company and later the PS Thorson Co. In 1977 he started his own business, The George Fuller Tape Co., selling industrial packaging supplies in the Boston metropolitan area. His success in sales can be attributed to his kind and outgoing nature and his strong work ethic. He retired to New Hampshire in 2007.

Fuller’s passion for sports continued throughout his life.  A scratch golfer, he won several tournaments (both individually and with a partner), including the Sudbury Open, which he won three times.

Fuller attributed his love for people and his joyfulness to his faith in Jesus.  A long time member and deacon of Park Street Church in Boston and later Westgate Church in Weston, MA, he loved his job of greeter on Sunday mornings, welcoming parishioners with sincere warmth.  He would visit shut-ins, and along with his wife Betty would open his house to provide hospitality to many.

He is predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Elizabeth (Daston) Fuller and is survived by his son, Peter Fuller, daughter-in-law, Cathy (Robinson) Fuller, daughter, Mary Beth Bowling, son-in-law George Bowling and three grandchildren, Tennessee Bowling, Savannah Bowling, and Peter “Robby” Fuller.

Services will be held at a later date at the First Christian Church in Wolfeboro, NH.  Burial will be in the NH Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH on Monday March 16th at 10:00am.  The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations in his honor be made to World Vision at worldvision.org.
