Gerard “Jerry” Bergeron, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, surrounded by his family following a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia. Jerry was born in 1950 in Haverhill, MA the son of Paul & Therese Bergeron.

He graduated from Haverhill High School and enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 18. Jerry proudly served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1972 where he was stationed in Brunswick, ME and Jacksonville, Fl. Jerry reached the rank of 2nd Class Petty Officer upon his discharge. Jerry proudly held numerous titles for the Ossipee Corner Fire Department. He served his local communities as grocery store manager in the Wolfeboro/Ossipee area where he enjoyed meeting and working with many local community members and vendors.

Growing up, Jerry enjoyed many summers with his family at their cabin on Lanes End in Melvin Village before his family moved permanent residence to Wolfeboro and then Ossipee. Jerry has fond memories of water skiing on Lake Winnipesaukee, square dancing in Melvin Village, taking his aluminum boat out fishing in the surrounding lakes and bays, especially Back Bay which was his parent’s back yard. Additionally, Jerry enjoyed many years of hunting with family and friends. Jerry enjoyed playing cards and cribbage where he jokingly gave himself the slogan “cheat cheat can’t be beat”. He was an avid coin collector for many years and enjoyed sharing this hobby with his kids and grandkids. Jerry spent annual family vacations with his kids and grandkids at Wells Beach, ME where he enjoyed boogie boarding, people watching, swimming in the pool, collecting beach treasures and eating lobster.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 37 years, Gayle Bergeron and his five daughters: Jennifer Bergeron & John St. Germain (Westford, MA), Joanna & Jason Pecor (Williston, VT), Jaimee Bergeron (Chocorua, NH), Courtney Bergeron (Bedford, NH), and Hannah Bergeron-Brunelle & Kyle Brunelle (Chelmsford, MA). Perhaps his fondest title was “Grampy/Grampa/Gramps” to his 4 granddaughters and 1 grandson whom were his heart and joy: Josie and Julia Pecor, Sophie St. Germain & Wyatt and Livvy Brunelle. Jerry also leaves behind his father in-law, Carl Contois (Wolfeboro, NH), his brother and sister, sister-in-laws, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by his father and mother, Paul and Therese Bergeron as well as his mother-in-law, Arlene Contois.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday July 26, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Lord Funeral Home in Wolfeboro. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 27, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Katherine Drexel in Alton followed by a private family burial. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Ossipee Corner Fire Department or the Alzheimer’s Association. The Bergeron family would like to extend their sincerest thanks to the compassionate teams of nurses and caregivers at Whole Hearted Senior Care and Watson Fields Assisted Living of Dover for the genuine care that they have provided to our husband and father over the past several years.
