James Dearborn Obituary

James D. Dearborn Sr., 79 of Wolfeboro, NH sadly left us on May 18, 2024. Surrounded by his wife and three children Jim succumbed to diabetes and all the health issues that came with it.

Jim was born in April 1945 on his mom’s 41st birthday. He was the baby of five.

Jim lived his life always giving to others and serving his country and community. After graduating from Somersworth High School, he joined the Navy. As a helicopter mechanic Jim sailed on the USS Guam and the USS Randolph. He was particularly proud of his mission to help recover the Gemini 11 Space capsule in 1966. While sailing in the Mediterranean Jim became ill and it was discovered that he had diabetes. Jim would be honorably discharged in 1968.

It was the summer of 1969 when Jim and the love of his life married and started a new chapter of his life. Jim and Debby settled in Wolfeboro where Jim became a career firefighter of 25 years on the Wolfeboro Fire Department.

Jim was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He would do whatever necessary to take care of them, always putting them before himself. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, skiing, hockey, and snowmobiling. He could be seen coaching his kids in various sports, cheering, and supporting them and then later his grandchildren. He loved animals and being outdoors. He enjoyed camping with his wife and children and would go on to camp with his grandchildren. He enjoyed sunny trips to the islands and soaking in the sun. He enjoyed bird watching and the deer that would come to visit almost every day.

Our hearts are forever saddened and full of the memories and joy “Jim-Dad-Papa-Uncle Jim” brought to our lives.

Jim is survived by his wife of almost 55 years Debby, their children Jim Jr. and his wife Traci, their twins Jenny and her husband Randy and Rick and his dog Diesel. His 6 grandchildren Jacob, Haley, Jared, Megan, Katie and Liam. He is pre-deceased by his parents Louie and Lulu, his siblings Louie Jr, Howard, Charlie, and Bertha.
