Janet Elizabeth Brown, 86 of Sandwich, NH passed away unexpectedly at her home on August 4, 2022.

Janet was born on May 4, 1936 to Clarence M Brown and Elizabeth J Brown (Meader) at Laconia Hospital in Laconia, NH.   A graduate of Quimby School in Sandwich, she attended Laconia Business College and Concord Commercial College.  She was a secretary and bookkeeper for many years.

Janet loved her town and volunteered her time to give back to her community in many ways.  She was a supporter of many organizations in town such as the Alfred Quimby Trust, Doris L Benz Trust, Benz Community Center, Sandwich Fair and many others.  She was supervisor of the checklist in town for over 50 years and worked for the town as well.

Janet was predeceased by her parents; her brother Frank and sister-in-law Jean; and her nephew James.  She is survived by 2 nieces, Debbie Lett of Sandwich and Kathy Weeks of Ctr. Harbor and their Families; as well as her cousin Alice McCormack and her family.  She also leaves behind many friends including cousins and neighbors, Gary & Diane Floyd and their children who Janet helped care for; and her co-worker and friend Meghan Scanlon, all who returned that care when Janet needed it. 

Janet was a friend to many and caretaker of others.  She will always be remembered for her quirky personality, her generous heart and willingness to give wherever she was able.

Calling hours will be Sunday, August 14, 2022 from 2-4 PM at the Lord Funeral Home, 50 Moultonville Road, Center Ossipee, NH and funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM at the Community Church, 12 Church Street, Sandwich, NH on Monday, August 15, 2022 with burial to follow at the North Sandwich Cemetery.
