Janet Spence Obituary

Janet Spence, 81 years old, of Ossipee, NH, passed away on December 19, 2024, after a lengthy battle with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. Janet was born on August 10, 1943, in Lynn, Massachusetts to the late Jeanne and Rodger Parker, of Peabody, MA.

Janet grew up in Peabody, MA attending the Samuel Brown Elementary School and Peabody High Schools, until relocating to Ipswich, MA, where she graduated from Ipswich High School in 1961. Janet went on to attend the Chandler School for Women in Boston, MA, studying general Accounting/Office Procedures. She also attended New Hampshire Technical Institute in Concord, NH, studying Accounting.

Janet was employed at VanOhlsen Associates in Pembroke, NH, Grappone Industrial Inc. in Concord, NH as their Office Manager and Shields Brokerage in Exeter, NH as Account Manager until she retired in 2005.

Janet loved the company of family and friends. She had an outstanding sense of humor. She loved to laugh and make others laugh! Janet loved her State of New Hampshire, with its beautiful scenery, and the charm of small towns. Janet also loved her Country.

Janet is survived by her children Tracey (Hodge) Hall of Tamworth, NH; Jay Spence of Newburyport, MA; Timothy Spence of Hollis, NH; as well as her 6 grandchildren. She also leaves behind her life partner of the last 18 years, Kenneth Spence of Ossipee, NH.

Janet was pre-deceased by her husband Thomas Spence and her son Steven Hodge; as well as her parents Jeanne and Rodger Parker; siblings Patty Hoefle, Lenny Parker, Donnie Parker; and her beloved dog Annie.

A Celebration of Life will be held on January 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at the First Congregational Church on Route 16B in Center Ossipee, NH with a reception to follow at the Church.
