Janice was born in Oakland, CA, the daughter of Talcott Amzi Perkins and Alice Williams of Piedmont, CA and was preceded in death by her younger brother Ed Perkins. Janice was the wife of the late Bruce Wood Putney and the mother of the late Claudia Putney. She is survived by her twin sons, Duncan B Putney and his fiancé Chelsea LeBeau, and Lt. Col Douglas R Putney (USAF retired) and his wife Amy Poole.
Jan studied business at the University of Oregon and was a flight attendant for United Air Lines. She was one of the original stewardesses that opened United’s Boston base in the 1950’s where she met her future husband Bruce, a pilot for Eastern Air Lines.
She raised her children in Lynnfield, MA before moving to Wolfeboro, NH with her husband on his retirement in 1985. She and Bruce were long time volunteers for the Huggins Hospital Fair and at the Wright Museum of WWII in Wolfeboro.
The family will have a small graveside service at Lakeview Cemetery in Wolfeboro, NH on April 27, 2024 at 11:00 am. There will be a small collation at the First Christian Church on North Main Street in Wolfeboro, NH to follow.
