Jo-Anne Canney Obituary

Jo-Anne M. Canney, 68, of Freedom NH passed peacefully to her heavenly home on May 7th, 2024, in the company of her loving husband, Christopher S. Canney.

Joanne is survived by her husband, Christopher S. Canney; her children Jeffery Canney of Meredith and Amanda Canney-Luce of Gilford; and her grandchildren Owen Luce and Payton Luce. She is predeceased by her father, John Davis, and her mother, Constance (Lola) Plastridge.

For four decades, Jo-Anne called North Conway, NH home before embarking on a new chapter in Freedom, NH, where she and Chris built a home on Loon Lake. Jo-Anne enjoyed traveling New England with her family and camping in the summers. Many days were spent enjoying their home on Loon Lake in Freedom. Jo-Anne's compassionate spirit extended beyond her home, as she cared for others as a home healthcare worker for many years. Jo-Anne and Chris were semi-retired for the past few years, allowing them time to travel and enjoy each other's company.

Jo-Anne was a beloved wife, approaching her remarkable 50th wedding anniversary just three months away. Her role as a mother and a grandmother was the heartbeat of her life; as she was a source of boundless love, unwavering dedication, and unending sacrifice. Jo-Anne's faith in Jesus Christ was not just a belief; it was a way of life; a guiding light that illuminated her path. She was an active member of the Ladies Group, "Mary and Martha," at the First Baptist Church in North Conway.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests charitable donations be made to support the benevolent ministry of the church, "Mary and Martha," which offers vital assistance to residents and church members during times of financial hardship or tragedy. Donations in Jo-Anne's honor can be directed to Rene Vandyne, Treasurer, First Baptist Church PO Box 600 North Conway, NH.

A celebration of Jo-Anne's life will commence on May 18th, 2024, with a funeral service at 10:00 am at First Baptist Church at 2655 White Mountain Highway, North Conway, NH. Preceded by a brief gathering with family in the church's dining room from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, where coffee and muffins will be served. The family has requested a private burial, and there will be no calling hours. Guest registries will be provided for attendees to sign into the service, allowing the family to express their gratitude in person after the funeral.
