Joan (JoJo) Marie (Michaud) Dabritz

Joan (JoJo) Dabritz, 91, passed unexpectedly on May 13, 2025, after a brief illness. She was born on Staten Island. 

Joan is survived by her children Fred Jr. and Kate and their spouses, 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and 2 sisters. She is predeceased by her husband Fred, her daughter Susan, her parents and a brother. 

She resided mostly in the Catskills but also lived in Hawaii, southern New Jersey, Massachusetts and recently in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. 

Joan was an avid gardener with the gift of a green thumb. She loved designing gardens and working in the soil. She surrounded herself with plants and flowers no matter where she lived. She was a true fanatic. In the off season she enjoyed knitting and embroidery, tending to her menagerie of houseplants and reading from an abundance of horticultural magazines. 

No stranger to traveling Joan traveled throughout the United States and visited Singapore and Thailand with her husband. Joan was independent and self-sufficient, gardening to the very end of her life. 

A mass will be said in her honor at Sacred Heart Church in Andes, NY. Her ashes will be spread in the gardens of her former home in Andes along with her husband’s.
