John Craigue Obituary

Wolfeboro, NH

John Edwin Craigue, 67, of Wolfeboro, NH went to be with the Lord on July 1, 202.  He died at his home in the presence of his loving wife, Sharon.

John was born in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire on March 10, 1953 to Don “Peanut” and Grace (Emery) Craigue.  He was a lifelong resident of Wolfeboro, the fourth child of six and the only male.  He graduated from Carpenter School and Kingswood Regional High School.  John attended Laconia Technical School and continued his education by tasking advanced courses in his field.  He also strived to better himself.

John was a star southpaw pitcher for Kingswood Varsity.  He once pitched an 18 inning game for the win.  After Kingswood, he went on to play in the Portland Maine Summer League.  John also enjoyed bowling and kayaking.  He bowled at PJ Lanes in Wolfeboro and at the Mug in Meredith, NH, winning many trophies, twice bowling on TV.  John loved exploring the different lakes by kayak and spent many hours sitting absolutely still watching loons and herons.

John was an ardent sports fan.  He loved to watch tennis, football and baseball.  He went to New York to watch the US Open in tennis.  His favorite sports figures were Rafa Nadal and Tom Brady.  John’s favorite teams were the Patriots and the New York Yankees.  He was as avid a voice against the teams he didn’t like as he was to the teams he liked.

John married Sharon on Valentine’s Day 1997.  John and Sharon loved to travel.  They enjoyed cruising the Caribbean.  He enjoyed visiting Disney World regularly with the same delight as a child.  His favorite rides were the Safari ride and Soarin.  John traveled around the world in search of wildlife.  He traveled to Africa five times making several visits to South Africa, Kenya and Tanzania.  He also traveled to Costa Rica and Galapagos.  John supported wildlife organizations.

John was a kind and gentle soul.  He was always there to greet you with a warm smile, a wonderful bear hug and to lend a hand whenever he was needed.  He was a friend of Bill W for 28 years.

John first worked for Ray Tuttle.  He worked for the Wolfeboro Wastewater Treatment Plant for 41 years. He retired on April 1, 2020.  In 2016 he received an award for the best wastewater treatment plant in New Hampshire from the NHDES.  On June 19, 2020 John was honored with plaques from the Town of Wolfeboro and Woodard and Curran.  He received a declaration from the State House of Representatives as well as a drive by parade.  John enjoyed the celebration.  He made the front page of the Granite State Newspaper on June 25, 2020.

John loved to eat out and try different restaurants.  His favorite foods were chocolate, ice cream, sea food and prime rib.  He loved going to Deer Cap for a banana split and Ted’s for seafood.

John was predeceased by his mother and father.  He leaves behind his wife Sharon; his aunt Nancy Kendall from Augusta; his five sisters, Donna Sargeant of Ossipee, NH; Dee Peak of Madbury, NH; Karen Pollini of Ossipee, NH; Ann Chamberlain of North Conway, NH; Martha White of Ossipee, NH; his brothers in law Richard Peak of Madbury; Gary Chasser of Long Branch, NJ; Harvey Chasser of Fort Lauderdale, FL and several nieces and nephews.
