John “Jack” Drinkwater, 82, of Wolfeboro, NH, died peacefully at home after a long illness on Friday morning, February 28, 2020. He was born in Boston, MA., on January 2, 1938.
Jack had retired from the Holliston, MA school system in 1998 following a lifelong career in public education. After receiving a Doctorate in Education from Boston College, he served as Superintendent of Schools in four communities in Maine and Massachusetts.
Jack resided in Wolfeboro since his retirement in 1998. Previously he had summered here with his family since 1975. During his retirement he volunteered his time at the Life Ministries Food Pantry, Medication Bridge at Huggins Hospital, Holy Rosary Parish in Rochester, NH and St Katharine Drexel Parish in Alton, NH.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Margot, and their five children, Brian and his wife Jill Drinkwater; David and his wife Kerry Drinkwater; Susan Lapham; Beth Wilkes; and Matthew Drinkwater. He is also survived by his 9 grandchildren, Madeline, Jamie, Ethan, Jackson, Mackenzie, Layla, Griffin, Caetano and Anthony.
There will be no visiting hours. A Funeral Mass will be held on March 7, 2020 at 10 A.M. at St Katharine Drexel Parish, 40 Hidden Spring Road, Alton, NH.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Life Ministries Food Pantry of Wolfeboro.
