John Douglas MacTaggart (61), “Doug”, to all who knew him, was born in New Iberia, Louisiana (home of Tabasco) and from his roots, he lived to spice things up! Doug grew up in North Hampton, New Hampshire, and loved the seacoast. He is survived by his mother Kathy Dudley of Naples, Florida, his niece Megan MacTaggart, cousins Mark and Jeff MacTaggart, and the love of his life Jane Metzel of Madison, New Hampshire. He was predeceased by his brother Scott MacTaggart and his father Ed MacTaggart. Doug leaves behind countless friends and extended family.
Doug was a man of integrity, it was important to him to shake someone’s hand, look them in the eyes, open doors, and keep his word; be it a professional job, or a promise to a friend. If he saw a need in someone, he took them under his wing and gave his all to help. He made everyone laugh with his dry sense of humor, questionable wardrobe choices at times in his workshop, and wanted those surrounding him to feel joy. His unexpected passing proved that his heart was just too giving to his life which he loved dearly.
Doug’s professional career as a carpenter transcended him into his true self of craftsmanship. He was steadfast and meticulous in his work, dedicated to building something properly, and building friendships wherever he was. He always had a project going, and would take a vision to fruition in a matter of hours, with the music blaring in the barn.
Doug lived to create and share with those who surrounded him, sharing his excellent taste in music & artistry. Jane and Doug were soulmates, they shared a life and love of music; traveling together for concerts, truly making time to celebrate each other, collecting memories and meeting beautiful friends along the way. Together they hosted their own backyard concert properly known as “DougFest” each year, inviting incredible bands to play, and hundreds of people in attendance. The whole neighborhood joined for a huge night of dancing, singing, and laughter; exactly what Doug lived for.
In Doug’s memory please attend your favorite concerts, donate to Make-A-Wish
