He was an active participant of Luby Land. Following high school John proudly joined the US Marine Corps and served as a trained Religious Leader for his platoon. John was a loyal friend, favorite Uncle and Father figure to many nieces and nephews, as well as his daughter’s brothers, Kaeden and Kasey Marr and always encouraged his love for ice fishing, motor cross racing, skiing and hunting. He has been described as “The Funnest Uncle ever”. John was a patient man, a loyal and generous friend and a dedicated father.

He is also survived by his uncle Jim O’Brien; cousins Barbara O’Brien, Mark O’Brien, Greg O’Brien, Brian McEvoy, Kevin O’Brien, Stephen McEvoy, Ellen Berlin, John McEvoy, his long-time friend and former wife Kristen O’Brien, beloved Godchildren, Cody Parker, Jenna and Jillian Luby, nieces and nephews Dylan Logan, Lucy and Charlotte Stevens, Kelley Tibbetts, Justin Ray, Corey Lane and many others whose lives were touched by John.
