Jack Moore of Brookfield, NH passed away peacefully on January 10, 2025, at the Wentworth-Douglas Hospital in Dover, NH just after celebrating his 97th birthday. Jack was born in Somerville, MA to James & Katherine (Lewis) Moore and was a devoted husband to June (Morgan) Moore for 70 years. Jack and his family moved to Wolfeboro, NH in 1972. Jack was predeceased by his parents, his son Ronald, and brothers James, Daniel, Roderick, and Richard Moore and his sister, Joan (Moore) Roach.
Jack started his military career at the age of 17 when he joined the Army then transferred to the Air Force. Jack retired after serving 21 years. He went to Korea at the beginning of the Korean War and then back again for a second time in 1956. He was a 1st sergeant for his outfit the 4th FIW. He ended his Air Force career by being a recruiter for the Air Force. His experiences and stories were many about his career. While he was in Korea, he met PGA pro golfer Orville Moody who brought golf clubs to Korea for the troops to play. That was the beginning of Jack’s love for the game of golf, and he became a stickler for the rules and regulations of the game.
After wintering many years in Florida, he became very involved with the PGA, both working and playing golf. In 1983 and 1984 he sponsored a PGA golf tournament held at the Concord Country Club in Concord, NH. That was the first time a PGA golf tournament was played in NH. Jack was a member of Kingswood Golf Club for 30 years. He also enjoyed making and repairing clubs for his friends and enjoyed being part of a group called “The Nooners”.
He is survived by his daughter Karen Moore of Centerville, MA and his son Scott and his wife Sherri Moore of Wolfeboro, NH. He is survived by his brothers, Francis Moore of Lynnfield, MA and Robert Moore of Portsmouth, NH. He is also survived by his grandchildren Jennifer Abazorius of Fitchburg, MA, Joseph Moore of Conway, NH and Paige Gonneville of Wolfeboro, NH.
Jack is also survived by his great-grandchildren Jack Moore of Conway, NH and Brittney Abazorius and Kyle Abazorius of Fitchburg, MA and his great-great-grandson Jayden Abazorius of Fitchburg, MA and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held at the Lord Funeral Home, 23 Club Lane, Wolfeboro, NH on Monday, January 20, 2025, between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. The burial will be at the NH Veterans Cemetery 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. There will be military honors. Family and friends are welcome to attend.
