Joseph I. Melanson III, 87, of Wolfeboro passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Wentworth Douglas Hospital, Dover, NH.
He was born in Lynn, MA the son of the late Ruth (Cotton) Melanson and Joseph I Melanson Jr... He was a graduate of Hebron Academy and had lived in Wolfeboro, NH for most of his life.
Known as “Bucky” he was a loving husband, father grandfather and great grandfather.
Bucky operated an antique shop known as Historical House Antiques. He was involved in the development of Rattlesnake Island and Cricket Hill Estates and also owned the Yankee Miser Newspaper Company. For more than 30 years he owned and operated Melanson’s Mancy Facets Jewelry Store in Wolfeboro, NH.
He had served as president of Kingswood Golf Club and was a member of the Wolfeboro Bank. Bucky enjoyed his family and grandchildren. He enjoyed a cribbage gam anytime. He also enjoyed Hockey, Baseball and Golf. Earlier in his life he was being watched by professional sports teams but was stricken by Polio.
He is survived by his wife Cynthia (Whipple) Melanson of 65 years, his sons Joseph I Melanson IV and his wife Elaine and their children Katherine, Andrea and Joey and great grandsons Miles and Matthew; and Timothy F. Melanson and his wife Cynthia and their children Christopher and Gregory. Bucky was predeceased by his granddaughter Elizabeth Ruth Melanson.
There will be no calling hours. A Graveside Service will be Monday, October 24, 2022 at 1:00pm at Lakeview Cemetery, Wolfeboro, NH.
Memorial donations in his memory may be made to a local charity of one’s choice.
