June Deyoe Obituary

June Deyoe, age 94, of Freedom, NH and formally of Melrose, MA passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on January 5, 2025. Born January 18, 1930 in Lowell, Massachusetts to Walter H. and Lucy M. (Pratt) White.

June grew up in Amesbury, Massachusetts, the youngest of three children. Her sister Marjorie (White) Toothaker and her brother, Walter E. White (Buddy) were always close. Upon graduating from Amesbury High School class of 1948, June worked at Sears & Roebuck as a window dresser and at the candy counter of the local 5 & 10 store.

Music was an important part of June’s life. She was past-soloist at the Melrose Highlands Church, Melrose, MA and past-soloist at the Freedom Christian Church, Freedom, NH. An avid reader, June enjoyed romance and mystery - a good who done it. After losing her vision to Macular Degeneration, June enjoyed her books on tape listening to over 5,000 titles. June loved to knit from an early age, learning from her mother. Knitting Afghans for her children, family and friends was a joy for June.

June moved to Freedom when her father, Walter built their home. Only leaving to raise her family when she married her husband and love of her life, William. June told her mother when she was 8 years-old she was going to marry that boy. June and Bill returned to Freedom when they retired.

June & Bill raised four children, William Deyoe, Jr., Freedom, Wayne (Catherine), Freedom, Mark (Penelope), Brockton, MA and Susan, Freedom. Her children loved their mother to the moon and back; they will deeply miss their mother. June was the past DeMolay Mother for the Melrose, MA Chapter, Choir Mother, Cub Scout Leader, and a Camp Fire Girl Leader. A proud grandmother of nine - Katie MacLaren, Philip MacLaren, Justin Deyoe (Jill) and Charlene Deyoe, Mark Deyoe (Kelly), Jenny Deyoe Fraser (Corey), Jacob, Naomi, & Matthew (Raqquel), as well as nine great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed and cuddled by her grand dog, Coco. She also leaves nieces, nephews, and cousins.

June was predeceased by her parents, Walter H. & Lucy M. White, husband, William, L. Deyoe, Sr., sister Marjorie (White) Toothaker (Clifton), brother Water E. White (Pat), father & mother-in-Law, Dr. Ralph J. Deyoe & Idella (Conner) Deyoe and great grandson, Duncan Arthur Fraser. June was a 77-year member and Past Matron of the Order of Eastern Star Friendship Chapter #58, Newburyport, MA, the Melrose Chapter #14, Melrose, MA and the Acacia Chapter #80, Tewkesbury, MA. June was a member and Past-President of the Melrose Highlands Woman’s Club, Freedom Woman’s Club (President) and the General Federation of Woman’s Club.

A funeral service, Eastern Star service and celebration of June’s life will be held at the Freedom Christian Church, Freedom, NH on January 25, 2025 at 1 p.m. A viewing will be held at 12:45 p.m. Reception to follow at the Church Fellowship Hall. The burial will be held on May 8, 2025 at Lakeview Cemetery, Freedom, NH. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in June’s name to the Conway Area Humane Society, 223 East Conway Street, Conway, NH 03818.

June will be forever sitting on her front porch in her favorite rocking chair looking over the mountains and valley.
