Katherina Maria Wickboldt (“Kitty”) passed peacefully on Thursday,August 8, 2019 at Bedford Falls in Bedford, NH. Kitty is survived by her loving family including her husband Richard, daughters Karen and Janet, son Paul, grandchildren Meaghan, George, Stephanie, Chiarra, Max, Jeremy and Eric, and great-grandchildren Quinn and Cooper.
Kitty was born in Brooklyn, NY on Sept. 7, 1934. She and Richard married in 1953 and moved to New York City and eventually Great Neck, Long Island, where they raised six children. Kitty was an exceptional and proud mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren and always gave priority to their upbringing and making a home for them. She was well liked by her neighbors and community. She volunteered as a Cub Scout den mother and appreciated simple outdoor activities. Feeding the birds and gardening were daily enjoyments.
Kitty enjoyed taking trips with her husband, traveling to visit many relatives in Germany where her family came from, and shorter trips around the US to where her husband was called to work. It was during these trips when Kitty and Richard discovered the New Hampshire Lakes Region, fell in love with its countryside and purchased a lake house in Brookfield in 1980. Kitty moved to the lake house with Richard in 2000 and they made it their home ever since. Kitty grew to love the community, neighbors and friends that she came to know in New Hampshire and felt at home here. She continued her enjoyment of simple outdoor activities and always appreciated the native plants, flowers and wildlife on her property.
In her life, Kitty also endured the tragic premature loss of three of her sons, Steven, George and Richard. She endured these tragedies with grace and strength for those that remained, and her family knows that she joins them in peace.
Kitty’s family would like to thank all those in the greater Brookfield area who have cared so well for her in her life here.
Kitty will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
