Kenneth Barnes

Kenneth J. Barnes, 82, of Effingham, N.H., passed away unexpectedly on May 15, 2024, at Maine Medical Center.

Ken will be remembered by his sense of humor. He had quite the sense of humor that filled his family with laughter and memories that will last a lifetime. He will also be remembered for his love of being outside.

He loved kayaking, fishing, scuba diving, sitting outside and finding little projects around the house. He once built a casket for one of his favorite dogs Max and gave him a proper burial in the backyard.

Ken is predeceased by both of his parents James and Barbara Barnes of Port Clyde Maine; his stepson Christopher; and his loving pets, Max, Morris, Fuzzy, Tami and Jack.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years Maryanne; his daughters, Stephanie, Diane, Angela and Heather; his grandchildren, Hannah, Jeffery, Flora, Tommy, Sara, James, Jason, Andrew and Ashley.

He is also survived by his favorite nurse Diana from the VA and his favorite home health aide Jessie.

There will not be any services per Ken’s request.

We would like to give a special thanks to the staff from the SCU at Maine Med for doing all they could to keep Ken on this earth with us and the VA for always taking such great care of Ken.
