Laura Caesar Obituary

Laura Caesar, of Dover, NH. and formerly of South Berwick, M. and Wolfeboro, NH. died May2, 2020, at the age of 51 after a long illness. Laura was born in Bronxville, NY on February 1, 1969. She attended Sewickly Academy in Pennsylvania, graduated from Taft School in Connecticut, and earned her B.A. with Departmental Honors in Linguistics from Hamilton College.

Laura established herself as respected professional and volunteer in a wide range of educational, community and non-profit organizations. Her irrepressible energy, quick mind, artistic eye and welcoming smile led her into a variety of administrative, teaching and consulting roles in non-profits including St. Andrew's School RI, Brewster Academy NH, Demont & Associates, Inc. Portland ME, The Music Hall in Portsmouth, NH, and Porter Caesar, LLC of Wolfeboro, NH.

Laura was an active volunteer presence in New Hampshire's Seacoast Community, serving on the Major Gifts Committee of The Music Hall and the Board of Directors of New Heights in Portsmouth, NH.

Laura was a dynamo who presence commanded every room she entered. Articulate, sharp-witted and sassy, she had a smile and a laugh that few will forget. In the stands at her three kids' games, Laura was the one with the cow bell, not shy to share which players were hers. She was a multi-talented lover of the visual and performing arts who loved growing food and flowers in her gardens and spending time in nature.

She is survived by her parents, Porter D. and Susan Caesar of Wolfeboro, NH; her sister Andrea H. Caesar of Wolfeboro, NH; her three children Margot Ogden Smith, Theodore Hubbell Smith V, and Crosby Devlin Smith, all of South Berwick, Maine; and her grandmothers Mary Lou Devlin O'Rourke of Wolfeboro, NH; and Allison G. Caesar of New Canaan, CT. She also leaves her niece Anelya Caesar of Wolfeboro, NH, and her uncles Edward J. O'Rourke of Brunswick, Maine, Paul D. O'Rourke of Brooklin, Maine, Sanderson Caesar of Wawa, PA, Brewster Caesar of Morrison, CO, and John G. Caesar of Danbury, CT, and their families.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to The Main Idea at Camp Agawam in Raymond, Maine, or The Music Hall in Portsmouth, NH.

May stars shine on her journey...
