Luke Shapiro was pure energy—bright, bold, and completely himself. He filled every room with his voice, his laughter, and his unmistakable presence. Quick-witted, big-hearted, and wonderfully honest, Luke was the person you went to for the truth, no sugarcoating required. He showed everyone around him how to love fiercely, live loudly, and be unapologetically real, never worrying about what anyone else thought.
Luke had a profound love for the students he worked with, especially children with autism. Helping people and bringing joy into their lives was not just something he did—it was who he was. His passion for service was evident in every relationship he built and every life he touched.
Luke found peace and happiness in the outdoors. He loved skiing, hiking, taking long walks, and spending time in nature, where his energy and spirit felt most free. These moments reflected his appreciation for life and his ability to find joy in simple, meaningful experiences.
Luke passed away unexpectedly at the age of 24 after experiencing an epileptic seizure. He had lived with the uncertainty of epilepsy for five years and faced it with courage, resilience, and grace. He was at home, with his parents by his side, surrounded by love.
He leaves behind his parents, Rob Shapiro and Lindy Salkin, and his loving siblings, Josh Shapiro and Jasper Shapiro (Griffin Cady). Luke also leaves behind family near and far in Boston, New Hampshire, Cleveland, Minnesota, and Oregon—too many to count, but all who loved him dearly.
Luke will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his honesty, his generosity, his laughter, and the love he gave so freely. His impact will continue to live on in the countless lives he touched and the joy he brought into the world.
Luke had a deep love for children with special needs and believed everyone deserved the chance to belong, compete, and be celebrated.
