Mae Trask (Sawyer) Winkley

Mae T. (Sawyer) Winkley, 105, of Ossipee, NH passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at the Wolfeboro Bay Care Center, Wolfeboro, NH.

She was born July 15, 1914 in Beverly, MA the daughter of the late William and Bertha (Prince) Sawyer and had lived in Ossipee for most of her life.

Although Mae was the oldest citizen of Ossipee, she refused to be the bearer of the Boston Post Cane simply saying, with a grin on her face, that she thought it was bad luck.

Mae, in her earlier years served as a volunteer at the Hunt Hospital in Danvers, MA as a Nurses Aid.

She was the widow of the late Mark A. Winkley of Center Ossipee, NH.

She is survived by her children Dwight Winkley, Ossipee, NH, Dana “Buckey” Winkley, Rainy Pass Lodge, Alaska and Lindamae Blair of Wakefield, NH.  She also leaves behind her grandchildren Daniel L. Hardin Jr., Conway, NH, James M. Hardin, Wolfeboro, NH, William H. Hardin, Conway, NH and her great grandchildren, Daniel Hardin III, Jacob A Hardin, Alexandria Hardin, Zoe Gagnon, Issac Hardin, Evan Hardin and Caleb Hardin.

Donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Services and burial in Grant Hill Cemetery, Center Ossipee, NH will be held at a later date.
