It is with great sadness that Margaret J. Bagshaw, 63 of Effingham, New Hampshire passed away Friday, May 24, 2024, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital, Portsmouth, New Hampshire following weeks of declining health.
Peggy was born on June 13, 1960, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Peggy lived in Colorado for about four years. After her biological mother’s sudden death, Peggy’s Father found love again and remarried. They moved to Gloucester, Massachusetts after their wedding. Peggy and her sister were adopted by Asta Moore Bagshaw. Then the family was blessed with three more siblings. They stayed in Gloucester until 1980, and then the family moved to Bedford, New Hampshire. From there Peggy’s journey, although difficult at times, continued onto Manchester, Farmington and finally Effingham. This is where Peggy and her sister Anne built a beautiful and loving home for their many “fur babies”.
In 1982, Peggy graduated with honors from Notre Dame College in Manchester, New Hampshire. She earned her Bachelor of Art’s Degree in education with a concentration in Learning Disabilities. Peggy was offered a job immediately after graduation, to start a Learning Disabled Program in a Manchester school. Unfortunately, Peggy’s health was already so fragile, she was unable to work.
Peggy is survived by her sisters, Anne Weidacher of Effingham, New Hampshire; Kari Charles and her husband Brian, along with their son Jack J. Charles all from Jamaica Plains, Massachusetts; and Theresa (TC) Chavaree and her husband Bret from Atkinson, New Hampshire. Along with cousins, aunts, and uncles. Peggy was predeceased by her parents Thomas Bagshaw and her maternal mother Lillian Bagshaw and her mother Asta Bagshaw, as well as a brother Thomas (Tommy) Bagshaw, Jr.
Peggy’s love for reading and learning was one of her dearest passions. She was extremely knowledgeable in so many current events, history and especially in the medical field. Peggy endured many hardships throughout her life, as she battled many life threatening health problems. She became so medical savvy, people often thought she had a career in the medical field.
Peggy’s love and care for kittens and cats was her true calling. She nurtured and raised so many furry family members. She always gave them the best of the best, and there was no question in their health care. Peggy was on top of their every needs. Her newest family members, Mikey and Dash loved their mom, and will miss her each and everyday.
Peggy was a warrior as she courageously fought her many health challenges with strength and determination. She wanted to live, no matter how hard living was. In the end, Peggy was so tired.
There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at 11:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 23 Moultonville Road, Center Ossipee, New Hampshire. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Effingham, New Hampshire following the funeral Mass. Then there will be a celebration of life at Peggy’s home in Effingham, New Hampshire.
