Marie C. Bryant, of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire died Monday June 3, 2024 at Mass General Hospital. She was born in Boston, MA to Francis J. Corliss and Marie Treanor Corliss and lived in Dorchester and Milton, Massachusetts as a child. She spent her marriage years in Stoughton, Massachusetts prior to moving to Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. Marie was the beloved wife of James D. Bryant with whom she shared 59 years of marriage, the loving mother of her daughter Katherine and her husband Stephen Lewis of Bridgewater, Massachusetts and her son James D. Bryant, Jr. and his wife Joanne (Jodi) of North Easton, Massachusetts. Her seven grandchildren are Victoria, Caroline, and Shannon Lewis and Nicholas, Nolan, Kate and Jack Bryant whom she so dearly loved.
Marie is survived by her sister Barbara Carmody of Satellite Beach, Florida. She is also survived by three brothers, Frank Corliss of Cataumet, Massachusetts, James Corliss of Milton, Massachusetts and Robert Corliss of Pocasset, Massachusetts.
Marie graduated from Dorchester High School for girls and from the State Teachers College in Boston. She later attended graduate studies at Bridgewater State College. She held teaching positions in Weymouth, Stoughton and Randolph during her career.
When they retired, Marie and her husband Jim moved to the home they had earlier built in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. During those years Marie volunteered as a CASA, a Court Appointed Advocate for Abused and Neglected Children, for the State of New Hampshire. She also volunteered for many years in the Medication Bridge Program at Huggins Hospital which helped eligible patients receive assistance in obtaining free prescription drugs.
Marie was an active member of the Wolfeboro Croquet Club arranging meets and training sessions with clubs in New Hampshire and Maine. She enjoyed playing bridge and was an avid reader. She had a sharp mind and a depth of knowledge in so many areas. Her wise council was treasured and sought by those who knew and loved her. She was truly the heart and soul of her family.
