Mark DEWOLF Obituary

MARK D. DeWOLF-63

On Thursday, November 17, 2022, Mark finished his courageous over four-year battle with terminal brain cancer. As he wished, he passed at home with his sister at his side.

Mark was predeceased by his parents, Davena Rogers DeWolf and Donald J. Dewolf, and an infant sister, Carla.

A true native, he graduated from Kingswood High School in 1977 followed by some study at NH Technical Institute. He later completed courses at the Thompson School at UNH.

For seven years, Mark operated Sure Form of Wolfeboro before joining Brewster Academy for what would be the most fulfilling experience for the 29 years until his retirement in 2018. As Sports Grounds Manager, he was not only proud of the green fields but proud of the teams that played upon them. An avid basketball fan, he never missed a game and drove the team to many of them, developing friendships with many a player. He was such an all-encompassing member of the school community, the class of 2016 dedicated their yearbook to him. And in recognizing Mark, the Head of School affectionately dubbed him the "Dean of Green." In appreciation for all his commitments to the Brewster Community, the athletic field bordering South Main Street was named DeWolf Field.

For 32 years, Mark was involved with the Abenaki Chapter of Ducks Unlimited, including many as its chair. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Sports Turf Managers Association and was once honored as their Manager of the Year.

One of Mark's most notable talents was developing wonderful, steadfast friendships, including many lifelong friends, and many developed through his associations. They have selflessly helped so much to add to the quality of his life through the past difficult years, right up to his last fishing adventure off the coast of Rhode Island. Fishing was his passion, nurtured early by his father and including many a trip deep-sea fishing with him off the coast of Florida.

Mark is survived by his sister, Joanne and Kevin Whiting of Lancaster, NH, his aunt, Dianne Quayle of Wolfeboro, NH, his nephew Shawn and Megan Whiting of Lancaster, his niece, Jayme Whiting of Guildhall, VT, and several cousins.

All his wonderful friends and family are cordially invited to an event to celebrate his life to be held Saturday, December 17, at the Rogers Center at Brewster Academy, from 2 to 5 pm. Mark will be laid to rest at the DeWolf/Rogers family lot at the Lovell Lake Cemetery in Sanbornville, NH. It was Mark's wish that any memorial gifts be made to Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro or to Ducks Unlimited.
