Michael Scott Riley

Ossipee, NH 

Michael Scott “Boomer” Riley, 55 of Ossipee, NH, passed away suddenly on Thursday morning September 14th, 2023. 

He was born August 17, 1968 in Wolfeboro, NH the son of Daniel B Riley Sr. and Cheryl (Welch) Riley.  He attended Ossipee Central School in Center Ossipee, NH and was a 1986 graduate of Kingswood Regional High School, Wolfeboro, NH.  Mike was raised in Center Ossipee and more recently lived in Wakefield with his wife Michelle. 

After his graduation Mike worked with Baybutt Concrete in Tamworth then went on to work at the Carroll County House of Corrections in Ossipee, NH for 13 years where he had earned the rank of Captain.  Mike and his very good friend, Danny Drew started their business together, Carroll County Oil Company, Ossipee, NH. 

Mike’s greatest pleasure in life was being a provider and protector to his family and friends.  He was an avid hunter who loved to “Window Shop”!  Anyone who knew Mike knows exactly what that means.  When Mike wasn’t working he was wheeling and dealing rather it is hay, animals or cars, etc.… he was happy if he was making a dollar. 

Mike spent his life generously taking care of those around him.  His heart was his biggest quality.  He spent his life trying to live up to his Father’s good name.  He learned at a young age that farming was going to be a life style for him.  He was determined to carry that on for his Dad! 

To say that Mike was a family man is an understatement.  The best days of his life were the days he became a Dad, Grampa and Husband to Michelle, his one true love!  He also loved his niece and nephews as they were his own.  Mike didn’t slow down for much, but the day Ava was born, that all changed.  She had Grampa wrapped around her little finger and he wouldn’t have it any other way. 

Mike had friends from near and far, wherever he went he made a new friend.  He will be forever missed! 

Mike leaves behind his loving wife Michelle (Perry) Riley and their son Ryan.  He also leaves behind his mother Cheryl (Welch) Riley as well as his nieces and nephews and his loving granddaughters Ava Riley and Charlotte.  He was predeceased by his father Daniel B. Riley Sr. and a brother Daniel B. Riley Jr. 

Calling hours will be Tuesday, September 19th, 2023 from 5-7PM at Lord Funeral Home, Center Ossipee, NH.  Funeral services will be Wednesday September 20th, 2023, at 11:00AM at the Family Life Center, First Congregational Church, Center Ossipee, NH.  Burial will be in the Water Village Cemetery, Ossipee, NH.
