It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our mom, Natalie Vittum Hall died February 19, 2025, at home she was 87 years old.
Born in Wolfeboro. She was the oldest daughter of Merton C. “Hop” Vittum and Rachel (Merrow) Vittum of Center Ossipee. She had four siblings Robert “Bobby” of Freedom, Norman of Tuftonboro, Warren, & Paula both of Center Ossipee. She attended school in Center Ossipee, Graduating from Kennett High School in 1956. She was sent to UNH to take classes to start the Ossipee Head Start Program in Center Ossipee. She always talked about having the best time traveling back and forth with Sylvia Johnson. Mom was very proud to tell anyone that she grew up on Dore Street and she was “A Native of this Town.” Mom was always willing to help this town anyway she could, she served on the planning board for many years, Deputy town Treasurer, Town Treasurer for many years, a ballot clerk, she was an elected Auditor for the Center Ossipee Fire Department for at least 30 years. A District Clerk for 2 terms. She worked on the board to start Constitution Park. She was a founding Member of The Ossipee Old Home Week Committee. She was the first female Selectman of the Town of Ossipee.
Natalie married Herbert E. Hall, and had four children, Dana & Julie (who Mom always referred to as her favorite daughter in law), David Hall of Tuftonboro. Diane & G. Michael Eldridge. Debbie & Steven Meserve. all of Center Ossipee, Mom worked for Chick Lumber, Ossipee Head Start. Indian Mound Development, she worked on developing the Indian Mound Plaza. Carroll County Court House, she stood by Dad when he started Herb’s Service Center. Mom was a bookkeeper, and her favorite piece of equipment was her adding machine. A few years after they started Herb’s Service, to her surprise an older man from Tamworth called her at home one day and asked her to tell “Herbie to bring Me up 50 gallons of K1.” That was the day that Mom found out that Dad had started Hall Oil Company, and the rest was history. They both worked very hard day and night to make the business a success. In their children’s and grandchildren’s eyes the two of them were a huge success. They travel extensively, camping in VW buses all over New England, Going to Banjo Concerts, Country & Western Concerts, Many trips to Carlise & Hershey, PA for antique car meets, they traveled all over New England for antique car shows with one of Dad’s Antique Cars, Prince Edward Island to trace her roots, Hawaii, The Caribbean, Mexico, many trips to Florida with Ben & Freda. Many trips and cruises with Webber Oil Company. Together they traveled to auctions, yard sales and flea markets up and down the East coast. Mom’s favorite place in the world was their camp on Danforth Bay in Freedom. It was nothing fancy, but it was theirs, and she loved it just the way it was. It was Mom & Dad’s place to watch their children and grandchildren play.
She leaves behind her children Dana & Julie Hall, David Hall, Diane & Mike Eldridge, Debbie & Steven Meserve, her grandchildren Jesse (Michelle), Zack (Bridget), Nick, Erick, Jakob (Sasha), Alan, Great Grandchildren Alaina, Lacey, Rylee, Stevie, Conner, Bentley, Payson, Foster, Wynn & Dawson, her sister Paula & Bill Hamel, Brother in Law Donal Hall, many nieces and one nephew Jimmy Vittum. Her friends Edna & Freda.
She was predeceased by her parents, Merton “Hop” & Rachel Vittum, husband Herbert E. Hall, siblings Bobby & (Patty), Norman & (Nancy), Warren, brother-in-law Richard Hall, and nephew Normie Vittum.
A Graveside Service will be held on May 11, 2025, at 11:00, a.m. at the Chickville Cemetery in Center Ossipee, with a gathering immediately following at the Hall’s camp located at 13 West Danforth Bay Road Freedom, NH.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations in Natalie’s memory be made to the Friends of Constitution Park, P.O. Box 880, Center Ossipee, NH 03814.
