Patrick Roberts Obituary

Patrick S. Roberts passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, October 6, 2021.  He was the fifth child born to a loving and dedicated mother on January 10, 1931 in Rice Lake, Wisconsin.  Pat was loved by many and loved many.

Pat knew and understood from a young age the value of hard work.  He began working at the age of 8 delivering newspapers and then later as an usher at the movie theatre.  Pat was a Korean War veteran who served in the Army from 1951 to 1953.  The majority of his working life was spent in the insurance industry where he advanced to the office of Vice President at Nationwide Insurance in Columbus, Ohio and served as the President of Neckura Insurance Company in Frankfurt, Germany. After retiring, Pat continued to work as an insurance consultant for numerous years.

Pat loved to travel the world by air and ship with his devoted wife of 59 years and for work.  In his lifetime, he was fortunate enough to visit over 100 countries on 6 continents; including, Switzerland, Russia, India, Japan, Australia, Yemen and Ecuador.   He loved to experience new cultures and would speak fondly of these adventurous times.

Pat is survived by his wife Kathi, his son Marc and daughter-in-law Laura, his grandson’s Sebastian and Felix, grand dog Brutus, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his mother Theresia Roberts, 5 siblings: Jack, Margaret, Thomas, Mary and Rosemary and his nephew Tom.  He was also predeceased by 3 beloved dogs: Shep, Prinz, and his grand dog Otto.

He will be remembered for being an interesting conversationalist, a lover of funny jokes and humorous comics (especially “The Far Side”), a connoisseur of chocolate chip cookies, a savant of old movies, and a listener of opera.  He will also be remembered for his generosity and for being thankful.  But mostly, he will be remembered for the immense love that he held for his family.  He was a cherished husband, father, papa, uncle, and friend and will be missed greatly.

Service arrangements will be announced at a later date.
