Raymond Lord Obituary

Raymond Everett (Ray) Lord died at home on June 16, 2024. He was born in Laconia, New Hampshire, on July 23, 1930, the son of Everett C. and Lillian F. (Jordan) Lord. Ray received his early education in Laconia and Belmont, New Hampshire schools and earned his Degree of Bachelor of Education at (the then) Plymouth State College. He earned his Master of Arts in English Degree at The University of Maine, Orono in 1970.

It was in September of 1945 that Ray was enrolled as a new student at Belmont High School, and it was there that he met Priscilla Ann Currier. They became friends and ultimately married in a small church in Lochmere, New Hampshire on July 7, 1951.

Ray was a member of the original faculty in 1964 at the opening of the new Kingswood Regional High School in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. His entire professional life was devoted to teaching English and Theatre at Kingswood. He retired in 1992, after 28 years in the classroom and backstage.

He is survived by three of his and Priscilla's children: Susan Ann Lord of York, Maine and her partner, Karen L. Frarie, Sarah Currier Holbrook and her husband George L. ( Jack) of Lincoln, Massachusetts, and Andrew Charles (Andy) Lord and wife Nancy L. Lord of Kittery Point, Maine. His much-loved grandchildren are Alicia Nikole and husband Jason Robinson of Stonington, Connecticut, George Ethan Holbrook of Chicago, Illinois, Grace Currier Holbrook of Lincoln, Massachusetts, Natalie Alexandra Lord and husband Beau Gaughran of Kittery Point, Maine, Hunter Charles Thomas Lord of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Madison Rose Lord of New York, New York, Jameson Cannon Lord of Los Angeles, California, Tessa Randall (Frarie) Smith of Epping, New Hampshire and Aleksa Megan (Frarie) Smith of Barrington, New Hampshire. Great-grandson Landon Edward Robinson and great-granddaughter Molly Rae Robinson are of Stonington, Connecticut. He is also survived by his brother Douglas A. and wife Carol Lord of Maidstone, Vermont, sister-in-law (Mrs. John) Rae Currier of Belmont, New Hampshire and many “favorite” nieces and nephews.

Priscilla and Ray lost their eldest daughter Nancy Rae (Lord) Fascione to breast cancer on August 1, 1994. She remains in the hearts of all who knew her.

On January 14, 2012, Ray lost his best friend, his wife of 60 years, his love of 66 years. Priscilla was a true humanitarian, and a source of great strength to him and to their family.

In the course of his life, Ray was fortunate enough to be able to enjoy many friends whom he loved dearly. You know who you are.

Brian Lord of the Lord Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Interment will be private, and Ray has asked that flowers be omitted. Instead, he suggests that you perform a random act of kindness, however small. It will cause you to smile.
