Ronald Holladay

Ronald Holladay, 80, of Tamworth, NH passed away on August 7, 2024 after a brief illness. He was born on January 20, 1944 in McComb, Ohio, to the late Carl and Wilma Holladay.

Ron grew up in the McComb area, graduating from local schools. In 1965 he enlisted in the Army with his best friend, Hank, and together they served in Vietnam for a year and a half. While there, Ron was awarded the Distinguished Air Medal.

In 1968 he married Mary Staples and they had two boys – Sean Matthew in 1970 and Eric James in 1972. Ron graduated from Tiffin University in 1976 with a degree in Business. That same year the family moved to Mary’s hometown of Tamworth, NH. In the 80’s Ron and Mary opened Holladay & Sons Flooring, which they operated together for a number of years. Following that, Ron went on to work for New Hampshire Tile and then Silver Lake Home Center. No matter the job, he was respected by all as a kind, honest, hardworking man.

Ron was a proud member (and former President) of the Rotary Club of Ossipee Valley. He worked selflessly and tirelessly on many service projects over the years – all for the benefit of the community.

Ron was an avid golfer and a member of the Indian Mound Golf Club for a number of years – even having a hole-in-one to his credit! His and Mary’s golf trips to Nevada and Utah with dear friends Paul and Sally were very special to him.

Ron recently had the great experience of being part of a “Flag City Honor Flight” with his friend and fellow soldier, Hank. They flew to Washington, DC where they were recognized for their service to our country. This was a very proud moment for the men.

Ron is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary, as well as his two sons, Sean and Eric. He also leaves behind three grandsons, Cody, Alex and Casey, and many other family members who will miss him greatly.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Ron on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, 11:00 am, at the Pizza Barn in Center Ossipee.
