Hon. Stanley E. Stevens, 78, passed away suddenly on Thursday, October 4, 2018.
Born in Concord, NH on March 26, 1940, he graduated from Penacook H.S. in 1957.He studied Criminal Justice at St. Anselm College in Manchester.
Hon. Stevens served in the U.S. Army National Guard. After an honorable discharge, he joined the NH State Police in 1963. He moved to Wolfeboro in 1965 when he joined the Wolfeboro Police Department as Patrolman. Hon. Stevens rose through the ranks and was promoted to Chief in 1979. He retired from the Dept. in 1999.
Hon. Stevens was very active in community and professional organizations. He was Past Master of Morning Star Lodge # 17. Hon. Stevens was a Paul Harris Fellow for Rotary International. He was Past President of the NH Assoc. of Chiefs of Police. Hon. Stevens also served 5 terms as a distinguished member of the NH State House of Representatives.
The family includes 2 sons: Scott W, Duncan of Rutland, MA and Christian M. Stevens of Rock Hill, SC and a daughter, Heather I. Goulden of Kennebunk, ME and 14 beloved grand and great children. His wife, Ruthann, predeceased him.
Calling hours are Friday, Oct. 12 from 12:00 and 2:00PM, with a Memorial Service to follow at 2PM at Lord Funeral Home on Route 28 in Wolfeboro, NH. Graveside services will be private.
