"With great sadness and heartbreak", Weld Day Schoonmaker "Schoonie" of Wolfeboro, NH passed away peacefully on May 30, 2024.


Weld was born on February 18, 1944, to the late Evelyn Clapham Horne Schoonmaker and Weld Day Schoonmaker II. He is survived by his sister Sally Ann (Schoonmaker) Gould of Salem, MA, nephew Gregory C. Gould of Braintree, MA, nephew Christopher M. Gould of Hampstead NH, great nieces, Allysa M. Gould and Samantha P. Gould of Hampstead, NH.


Weld attended Brewster Academy and Graduated from New England College. He joined the Army and served in the Vietnam War. He was a First Class Private in Company C 2d Battalion, 39th Infantry with 2 Purple Hearts and Award of Army Commendation medal for Heroism.


He persevered after the war living life the way he wanted, became a pilot, master of truck driver stories and adventures, loved golf and all the people at the Kingswood Country Club. He loved his cats. Weld will be dearly missed by all who knew him.


A Memorial Service in his honor will be announced in the near future.


Lord Funeral Home of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire will be assisting the family with arrangements.
