Wilbur "Wil" Corcoran

Wilbur "Wil" Corcoran, 78, of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, died peacefully at home on June 29, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.

Wil, or "Chick" as he was known by many, was a loving husband and father, a gifted musician, a Vietnam veteran, and the founder and CEO of his own company of 30 years. He was a quiet, thoughtful man who only spoke when he had something meaningful–or funny–to say. He loved learning about history, music, science and spirituality, and held a deep appreciation for the beauty of the natural world, his family, and his life.

Wil was a man of many talents, known for his sharp mind, problem-solving abilities, and musical skills, but some of his greatest gifts were the simple ones: his kindness toward animals, his gentle spirit, and the love he showed his family.  Some cherished memories include sitting at the piano with his son on his lap, playing the Maple Leaf Rag, and teaching his young daughter to swim confidently in the ocean…moments of connection that would last a lifetime. Wil and his cherished wife, Cindy, built a beautiful life and family together in the name of love.

As the middle child in a military family of nine children, Wil’s character was shaped by growing up on bases in places like Japan and Panama, resulting in a lifelong love of travel and respect and appreciation for other cultures. Early in life, there were a couple of people who would make a powerful, positive impact on him, including his Uncle Wil and his ROTC drill team sergeant, Micheal Brewer.

Music was the continuous, colorful thread running through his life, from listening to Elvis on his mother’s record player as a young child, to secret nighttime piano lessons as an adolescent, entertaining the troops with rock-and-roll aboard his aircraft carrier during the Vietnam War, meeting his first wife in a traffic jam on the way to Woodstock, and leading "Captain Chick and the Hot Licks," a popular New Jersey band that opened for James Brown and Aerosmith. Later, he met his beloved wife of 44 years at a jazz club in Paterson, NJ…his sweetest note. Music was truly the heartbeat of his life.

Wil is survived by his wife of 44 years, Cindy Corcoran; his daughter, Leah Corcoran and her partner Angie Lauderbaugh; his son, Ben Corcoran and his wife Tapanga; three grandchildren, Sarah, Sawyer, and Natalie; his brothers, Charlie and Micheal; his sisters, Dawn, Starr, and Eve; and his beloved dog, Harvey.

Private burial services will take place at Boscawen military cemetery on August 5, 2026, with a Celebration of Life to follow at Wil and Cindy’s home at 92 Waumbeck Rd, Wolfeboro, NH 03894, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
