William M. Walsh

William M.Walsh of Ossipee passed away on April 17, 2019 at the NH Veterans Home in Tilton. He was born in 1927 in Framingham, MA. Bill enlisted in the Navy at a young age and served proudly during WWII.

After his service he met a beautiful young woman Barbara McDonald (Mickey). They soon married in 1951, making a home in MA with their three children Cathy, Bill, and Susan.

Bill was a lifelong member of the Framingham Elks Lodge and served as Grand Exalted Ruler. He worked at the New England Telephone Company for 35 years, starting as a lineman and later ascending to manager.

As a hobby he enjoyed selling used cars, particularly the delight of the haggle. Upon retirement, he relocated with Mickey to the woods of Ossipee Mountain where his son Bill built their dream home.

During the Christmas season, Bill volunteered his services as Santa’s Helper in Ossipee and the surrounding towns to the delight of thousands of children.

He forged many friendships during winter months spent in Hutchinson Island, FL. For the past two years Bill received outstanding care at the VA Home in Tilton where his fellow veterans became family.

Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years Mickey, a sister Patricia, a grandson Ryan and a daughter-in-law Lee. He is survived by a son Bill and his wife Fabiana, a daughter Cathy and her husband Juan, and a daughter Susan. He leaves his grandchildren Christopher and his wife Kelly, Morgan, Sarah and her husband Jed, Benjamin and his wife Natasha, Lily, and Julianna. Bill was blessed with seven great-grandchildren: Dylan, Tyler, Kylie, Arabelle, Hadley, Benson, and Aubrey.

Calling hours will be held on Friday May 3rd, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Lord’s Funeral Home in Center Ossipee, NH followed by a Mass on May 4th at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the NH Veterans Home in Tilton in his memory.
