I'm so very sorry - I wish there were words that could convey how sad I am for you, Barrie, your children and the entire family. I remember Eric and his trip with Jerry sailing from the Great Lakes to the East Coast... and our connections in North Carolina. What a remarkable, adventurous, caring, and smart guy....he touched lives in so many memorable ways and left his positive mark on the future.
My thoughts and prayers are with you - and my deepest sympathy. I hope that is some ways the memories and love that you have gives comfort to all of you..

Though we share a name, I only know you through your remarkable family, especially your gorgeous genius daughter Kellie. You set an example to her, and you shone through her to me. Before reading this awe-inspiring tribute, I always wondered where she got her insatiable curiosity, her core decency, her world-beating math skills, her ability to create new and beautiful ideas when the rest of us were content with the world as it was. It was from you. What a gift you were to her. What a gift you gave to us. What a change you made in the world. I didn't have a dad like you, and I'm not a dad myself yet. But when I am, I hope I'm half the man you were during your brief time with us. Thank you, Eric. -Eric

Dearest family,

I was saddened to hear of Eric's passing. I always remembered Eric always with a smile and never failing to give a greeting. You are in my prayers. Reading about Eric was fascinating to know that he had such broad interests and letting us know so much more about him. God bless all of you.
Kindest regards,
Margaret Oliver

Barrie, I just received the sad news yesterday about Eric. My heart aches for you and your sweet family. I am praying for you each day that God will strengthen you in this time of great sorrow. You have shared a beautiful story of Eric’s incredible life and the joy and brilliance he brought to so many people in every aspect of his life. I know the service will be a celebration of Eric’s contributions and continuing influence on all those he knew and loved. My thoughts are with you so much. If there is anything I can do for you or your family, please let me know. Love to you all.

Barrie: We were saddened to hear of Eric's sudden departure. I thought about Eric two days ago and wondered if he was still living in the Birmingham area. As you know we both are former employees (now retired) of Southern Research Institute. Having worked alongside Eric for the entire 25 years he was at SRI, I really got to know him and it was such a joy and pleasure to know such a wonderful and kind person.

Our deepest sympathy to you and the family... May the peace of God abide.
Much love,
Herman & Carol Moore

Eric
We knew each other almost all our lifes.
Your mother Ellie wanted to keep the bonds to her origin, Sweden.
First time we met was in the summer of 1964.
We had contact now and then over the years.
But you know between friends a long time between contacts is nothing.
It is just like you have stepped outside an come back in again

I will always remember you like in the photo, at the campfire outside the cabin.
We miss you Eric.

My heart, thoughts and prayers are with all of the family during this devastating time. The short time that I knew Eric, I thought he was an incredible man. Always so happy and always so kind and considerate. No words can console the family right now, but know that you all are loved and that I am praying for your healing. Anything at all I can do to make this time easier for you, please don't hesitate to ask. With my deepest sympathy.
