Mary moved to NH alone in 1998 from Ill., and she and John became friends back then, often discussing their mutual love of old houses and the history of the area. We were shocked and saddened to learn of his passing a few months ago. We had seen him only a few weeks before his passing, and didn't learn of it until later in winter. John spent his last Christmas having dinner with us in our old home, and seemed to be relaxed and happy to be with us. The area has lost a font of knowledge about it's history and people, and so many here lost a good friend. We send our sincere condolences, and are so very sorry for your loss.

So sorry to hear of John's passing. We worked together at the post office and I enjoyed his quirky intelligence. He'd always stop in to whatever office I was working in, and buy some commemorative stamps. He had a great spirit

Dear Maria and Nancy
I have just learned of John's passing. He and I exchanged a few letters over the past
few years to keep in touch. It was so great to see him at the reunion of ECH.
I have many great memories of him in our high school days. I went on to become
a teacher for 30 years in Canada and Florida.
He will be sorely missed and my sympathy is extended to both of you and your
families

Gads what a shock. Knew John for many years personally and through connection with OCC. He will be missed by many. Also have a connection that I was raised in Paterson NJ also and attended Eastside HS

John had many friends and I'm proud to say that I was one of them. He was the only one to call me "Chas" in his distinctive way, and I will miss that.
I am certain John would remember this epitaph on a grave by the Blue Trail, in Harriman Park, NY that read:
But oh for the touch of a silent hand and the sound of a voice that is still.
