Linwood C. “Lindy” Nichols, 86, of Annie Nichols Road, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, January 5, 2018, with his daughter Bonnie, his granddaughter Sherry Wilcox-Mills and his dog Apache by his side.
Lindy was a native and lifelong resident of Center Ossipee. He was born January 22, 1931, the son of the late Linwood and Louise (Judkins) Nichols.
Lindy was a US Army Veteran serving as a mechanical engineer from 1952 to 1954.
He owned and operated “Lindy’s Junk Yard” in Center Ossipee all of his life. Never one to stop working even in retirement you could find him in the junk yard, cutting down trees, building culverts, raking and his favorite past time, picking up acorns and pulling weeds. Lindy was always one to lend a hand, share a beer, and tell the best stories with a twinkle in his eye and a smile on his face. If you needed advice, a car part, of which he probably had 4, or a car, he was your man! He loved ice races and helped drivers build and maintain their cars.
He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Virginia (Cook) Nichols on April 7, 2003.
Lindy leaves behind his daughters Bonnie Wilcox, Center Ossipee, NH; Edith Colby, Loudon, NH; several grandchildren.
Calling hours will be Sunday, January 14, 2018 from 2-4PM at Lord Funeral Home, 50 Moultonville Road, Ctr. Ossipee, NH. Interment will be held in Chickville Cemetery in the spring.
