Curtis A Pike

Major Curtis A. Pike, US Army (Ret), 87, Pine Hill Road, passed away Monday, January 25, 2016 at the Maine Medical Center, Portland, ME.

Curt was born December 11, 1928 to Guy A. and Edna B. (Rogers) Pike.  He was a native and life-long resident of Wolfeboro, NH

He was a graduate Brewster Academy, Wolfeboro, NH, Class of 1946 and a graduate of the University of New Hampshire, Durham, NH in 1953.

Maj. Pike had a long military career both in active service and in the New Hampshire National Guard.  He served in World War II and two tours in Vietnam where he was awarded the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Gold Star and the Vietnam Campaign Medal with six Battle Stars.

Curt was Wolfeboro’s first Public Works Director and was a builder and contractor for many years.

He was a long time member of the Wolfeboro Fire Department, a member of the Tuftonboro Grange and former member of the Lakeshore Grange and had served as a Police Commissioner in Wolfeboro, NH.

Curt is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Ann (Williams) Pike, his children Carol Faye Long and her husband Bud, St. George, Utah; Curt Roger Pike, and his wife Susan, Wolfeboro, NH; Caren A. Santos and her husband Cliff of Mendon, MA; Clemmie B. Merrow and her husband Howard, Center Ossipee, NH and Caleb Pike and his wife Heidi, Tuftonboro, NH.  He also leaves three granddaughters Abigail Santos, Emily Santos, and Stacy Long and a grandson Christopher Long.

At his request there will be no calling hours or funeral services.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Hospice of Southern Carroll County and Visiting Nurses Association, Wolfeboro, NH.
