Eugenia Claire Neal Stiff, 93, of Center Ossipee, NH, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2016, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Malden, MA on July 24, 1922, Eugenia graduated from Malden High School as a member of the National Honor Society and was one of the first women to graduate from Boston University School of Business with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. She was a direct descendent of Sir Walter Neal, Governor of the Lower Plantations of New Hampshire from 1630-1633, as well as Governor Winthrop, Governor of Massachusetts Bay Colony from 1630-1634.

Eugenia married Bernard George Edmund Stiff on June 17, 1944 and was married for 57 years until the death of her beloved Bernie in 2001. She was an active member of Park Street Congregational Church in Boston for much of her married life until she retired to her family’s home in Roland Park, Center Ossipee, NH. There she became a member of the First Congregational Church of Ossipee and served as the church pianist, organist and secretary for many years. She enjoyed entertaining friends and family at her mountaintop home and became known for her delicious donuts, which she kindly shared with all. She was also actively involved in many civic, women’s and garden clubs as well as Bible studies throughout her life. She was deeply committed to her faith, family and many lifelong friends from all stages of her life.

Eugenia is survived by her four children – Eugenia Anne Bennett (m. Robert Bennett) of North Andover, Massachusetts, Peter Enoch Stiff (m. Ruth Stiff) of River Hills, Wisconsin, Geoffrey Sampson Stiff (m. Carolyn Stiff) of Richmond, Virginia, and Betsy Kristine Mabry (m. David Mabry) of The Woodlands, Texas – 13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and other family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at the First Congregational Church of Ossipee on July 23, 2016 at 2:00 pm, when her extended family will gather from across the world.  The Reverend David Morgan will be officiating. Her ashes will be interred at the Ossipee Corner Cemetery. Burial arrangements are being handled by the Lord Funeral Home, Center Ossipee, NH.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the First Congregational Church of Ossipee, 50 Route 16B, Center Ossipee, NH 03814.

The family of Eugenia Claire Neal Stiff wishes to thank the staff and members of the First Congregational Church for the special role they played in Eugenia’s life and also special thanks to the Mountainview Nursing Home for all of their loving care. She will be greatly missed.
